8th Grade Band – Upcoming Events

On Tuesday evening March 4, the 8th Grade Band will be taking part in a Pre-Contest Concert & Clinic at the Alma PAC. The band will play their Region Contest music for two judges who will work with the band for a few minutes following their performance. The 8th Grade Band portion of the concert will take place at 7:00 p.m. Students should be on the PAC stage and ready to warm-up no later than 6:30 p.m.

The band will have their Concert Assessment on Tuesday afternoon, March 18 at the Alma PAC. As soon as the final performance schedule is released a letter will be sent home with students as well as posted on Edline and the band website. As of this time, it looks like the band will perform around 4:30 in the afternoon. If this is the case, students will be supervised at the high school until they can be picked up by a parent/guardian. Anyone is welcome to come and watch the on-stage portion of the assessment.

The Spring Concert will take place on Tuesday evening, May 13.

All of the above performance are REQUIRED events.

University of Arkansas Wind Ensemble

The University of Arkansas Wind Ensemble will present a free concert at the Alma PAC at 7:30p.m. on Monday evening, February 17th.

The University of Arkansas Wind Ensemble is comprised of the finest woodwind, brass, and percussion instrumentalists from across the Fayetteville campus. The ensemble is dedicated to the performance of outstanding band literature, but the flexible instrumentation allows these students to also perform chamber and contemporary music, as well. Audiences can expect to hear Mozart or Strauss chamber music, brass fanfares, band masterworks, or marches by John Philip Sousa. This diverse programming creates a musical variety that extends beyond the traditional band concert.
