Beginning Band Instrument Selection – Make-up Date

The middle school band directors will be coming to the intermediate school on Friday, May 2nd to see those students who were not able to attend the two band registration and instrument selection nights held at the middle school. Please understand that there are only a few instruments left to choose from including flute, trombone, cornet, and clarinet.

To avoid having students register for band without the knowledge of their parents or guardians, we are asking that you sign the attached form and have your student bring it with them when they visit with the band directors on Friday, May 2nd.

University of Arkansas Summer Music Camp

Please click on the link below for information on the University of Arkansas Summer Music Camp. We do have a very limited number of scholarships available for the camp. Scholarships are normally distributed first to those students who made an All-Region band. However, there are times when we have scholarships that are not claimed. If interested, please download a form form the U of A Music Camp website or have your student get a form from their band director. Please return forms to the band room WITHOUT money at this time.

7th & 8th Grade Band Spring Trip to Magic Springs


Dear Alma Band Parents,

The time has arrived for our 7th and 8th grade band SPRING TRIP!! This year we will be participating in the Magic Springs Music Festival at Hot Springs on Saturday, May 11th. The trip is not required but is highly encouraged due to the fact that the bands will be competing for ratings in the festival.

If your child cannot attend we need notification as soon as possible so we can make adjustments to the band. The cost for each student will be $34 (Make checks payable to ALMA BAND BOOSTERS). Please be sure that the name of the student is written legibly on the memo line of the check or written on the envelope that you are sending the money in. This price includes the admission fee for both Magic Springs and Crystal Falls Water Park. We will not be providing any meals for the students. Therefore, students will need to bring adequate money to purchase any food, beverages, or souvenirs they may wish to buy.

We are allowing parents and siblings to purchase the discounted tickets through the band. However, we cannot provide transportation for anyone but band students and a limited number of chaperones. Additional information and a detailed schedule will be sent home as soon as we receive our performance times from the staff at the music festival. If you are interested in being a chaperone, please contact your child’s band director.
